Jerguš Oravec is a young Slovakian musician, who has just lately won the jury and audience awards on Blues Aperitiv 2012, which is being held in Šumperk. He will therefore play on the international blues festival Blues Alive in November 2012. In the interview he gave to Novy Populár, Jerguš spoke about his beginnings as a musician, but also talked about his plans, which include cooperation with Ivan Tásler, the frontman of IMT Smile.
„After I’ve seen the concert of B.B. King in Prague, I realized that music is something you have to have inside of you. You cannot learn it – you either have it, or you don’t. However, I’ve always struggled with the fact, that I’ve been making depressive songs. That was one of the reasons why I contacted Ivan,” said Jerguš in the interview.
“Ivan is a person, who has a good taste of music and knows what Slovaks want. We are working on two singles at the moment and I am really looking forward to their completion. The plan is to combine blues with pop and electronic music. The important thing is, that it should be stylish and sexy,” he added.
Besides that, Jerguš just released his live DVD, which includes live footage from his concert in the Blue Note jazz club. The setlist featured songs of this 23 year old musician, as well as pieces from people like B.B. King, Jimi Hendrix and Peter Lipa. The same program was played at the christening of the DVD in KC Dunaj with Erich ‘Boboš’ Procházka as a special guest on the finger-glass.
